Issue with first passport (typos, delay)

Post by afriley » Sun Nov 10, 2024 9:59 am

Hi all,

Would appreciate any experiences and/or advice.

The passport office issues my first passport with a typo in my surname and grammatical errors in the observations.

No fault of mine; which they accept. I was told to send everything back to get it corrected. The envelope was signed for on Monday (a week ago) and now - radio silence. I’ve called quite a few times and they have no record of the second application yet.

It seems to have arrived at the right place (I sent it using registered post) so not lost en route. I’ve escalated to management and hopefully will get a call tomorrow. Anything else I can do?

My fear is they’ve lost the naturalisation certificate etc somewhere as everything was in that envelope as per their instructions.

Except for lodging a complaint not much you can do I don't think. When you call ask to speak to a senior caseworker.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.

Thank you yes I’ve barraged them (politely) with enquiries as I need a timeline to plan travel.

Quite shocking that they don’t seem to proofread…
