Deportation---

Post by johanssons_babe » Fri Jan 09, 2009 10:28 pm

My bofriend is a Resident, he was charged with a DUI and Felony Evading arrest. Sentenced to 16 months In April.. but with Half time hes out on Jan 16!!!!! He is currently serving his time in California--He is not serving time in a Prison or County Jail---he is at a community correction facility--

He talked to his counselor when he was in reception and even an immigration counselor there too and they both told him that he will not get deported. (July08)
Since he was moved to his mainline facility-- he has heard nothing about immigration.
Still he worries though.. He seems to think that they do not tell you if you are getting deported or even if you have a hold until a week or so before you are released? Is this true? If so then we only have a week today and he still hasnt heard anything from ICE... does anyone know the process?? He has been told he has no hold.. but hes still woried!

On Dec 26 was his last day of work... the 21 day count down began. I guess they give him 21 days to deal with parole papers and tie up ends before he is released. I think he will be talking with an immigration counselor or someone about adjusting back into society.
Should I worry? Do they usually let inmates know before they are deported?

Like I said, he is a resident. He is here legally and he is actually up for a renewal of his residency card at the end of this year. He has been here since he was 5 and is now 26. Only his dad has taken the citizenship test, his mom and all the brothers and sisters are still just residents. I have no answer to why no one else has tried to become citizens.

He has no prior convictions--
Thanks!!
