Clarification on Visa Status Showing as Refugee Status

My nephew arrived in the UK in March 2010. He recently won his appeal and, as far as he knows, his visa was granted on medical grounds. However, when he checked his visa status today, it shows "Refugee Status." All the legal proceedings were handled by his solicitor, and he is unaware of any appeal or discussions regarding a refugee application in his case. Could you guide me on why his visa status might be showing as "Refugee Status

We don't know enough about the case to comment. There is generally no "medical grounds" route to getting a UK visa. So you would need to ask the solicitor on what was the application that they made.
