My 17 old son BRP says ILR and evisa says dependant

Post by ceratti1975 » Tue Dec 31, 2024 11:22 am

Hi there,
I have two kids of 17(will be 18 in Oct 2025) and 13, and when we got our ILR (2022)their BRPs indicated that their type of permit was: SETTLEMENT and remarks: INDEFINITIVE LEAVE TO REMAIN.

When I got the new evisas for them the inmigration status instead of ILR it indicates: DEPENDANT.

What does that means? I thought they both got ILR like me or my partner, what's going to happen when they would be 18?
Will they loss their inmigration status or they will be changed to ILR like me?

Many thanks.

This has been reported by others previously ... seems to be normal and not an issue.
Note that eVisa process doesn't change any immigration status - just replaces physical evidence.
Children will be adult and keep their ILR, no additional application.

ILR is a permanent status.
BRPs will all be mostly useless from today. What it says on the BRP is no longer important.

Information on eVisas as all BPRs will be phased out from 1st Jan 2025
