Hi,
Please help: I was helped by my sponsor to apply for a student visa and reported existing health impairment including mental health. These were mentioned on my application, a CAS letter was issued and been granted the student visa till 9th January 2025. Then Whilst I progress in my studies, I got unwell back in Nov. 2023 with the mental health episode and been put to hospital till December 2023 which made a bad performance in my Dec. 2023 exam. Since, I've had to do resits with the last ones due in April 2025 as well as health episode do come time to time but at the moment I've got them under control. At the moment, I require to extend the student visa but not been given a CAS letter again I am told that I am on the same course so nothing changed and that the School/Department won't meet not until around 24th January 2025 to confirm the next resit process leading to the April 2025. I need your advice on what to do given that I don't have a new CAS and experienced health issues which had delayed my studies progression and completion. I have evidence and supporting documents from medical professionals who have been helping me and wondered if I can go ahead and submit what I have before the student visa expiry date and submit further information when I do get an update from the board meeting end of the January 2025 so that I am not an overstayer.
Also, my sponsor has agreed to provide me with his bank statements covering the past 6 months and wondered if these are sufficient to cover the required living costs finances.
I will appreciate if you can help me or advise me on what best way to extend my visa as to return home without studies completed is so hard with my existing health impairments.

Hi,
Please help me as I couldn't see how I can create a new topic for this. I arrived in Sept. 2023 and a relative is my sponsor. What are other information I should provide?
Let me know, Thanks.

I believe that your only option for extension is to get a CAS from the university.
If you can't get it on time I believe you are left with the only option of going back to your home country and applying for a student visa from there.
If there is international student support team in your university I suggest contacting them ASAP to try and resolve this.
I have heard in the past that some people were using section 3C by logging fee wavier or FLR application then varying it, but this is very risky and I'm not familiar with the exact details.

You need to contact your University. If they sponsor you for extension they will need to give you new CAS.
There are rules to whether they can or can't do so. But it is a must there is no way to apply for student visa extensions without it.
You need to have an emergency meeting in your department or international student support team, otherwise, you must leave the UK before your current visa expires and apply for a visitor visa to resit your exams.
If you do resit your exams as a visitor you will be ineligible for graduate visa, hence if you wish to apply for one then get a meeting with your international student support team ASAP.

FLR(HRO) is a multi-purpose application form for various different types of specific leave to remain application, including human rights-based applications. It is not a type of visa or route in itself, nor is an application using this form just a rescue for someone who doesn't want to leave the UK.
I do not give immigration advice. I refer you to Immigration Rules, guidance, other online content and to your sponsor.
