British Citizenship Approval - Next Steps Questions

Hi everyone,

Today, I received an email confirming the approval of my British citizenship application. The email states:

“I am pleased to tell you that your application for British citizenship has been approved. To complete the process of becoming a British citizen, you will need to attend a citizenship ceremony.
… What you must do now
Please contact the Citizenship Ceremonies Officer London to book your ceremony.
… You must bring a copy of this invitation to the ceremony.”

While reading the email, I came up with a few questions, and I’d really appreciate some guidance:
1. Do I need to contact the Citizenship Ceremonies team of my council directly, or should I wait for them to email me? Is it possible to book this online?
2. The email mentions bringing a copy of the invitation to the ceremony, but no attachment was provided. Should I just print the email or take screenshots?
3. Is there anywhere I can check all the documents I’ll need to bring to the ceremony to ensure I don’t miss anything?

Thank you in advance for your help! Any advice or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations!

1- you can get in touch with your council - each one has a different procedure on how to book ceremonies.

2- print the email.

3 - only the email and your passport/ID. You will be told this when you book the ceremony.

Thank you for confirming that! I’ll call the council tomorrow. I’m hoping it will be possible to book the ceremony online, as I get a bit nervous speaking due to mild dyslexia. I’d much prefer to calmly choose the date from my computer. Thanks again for your response!

Re 2. When you contact the council, ask them if you need to print the email. Mine told me without prompting that I only needed to show it on my phone. If they don't explicitly say that digital is ok, print it.

My council has a webpage to book ceremonies where applicants could log in with their URN once the application had been approved - browse your council's website and you may find a similar webpage if they offer this service, and book the ceremony online directly. You can also look for an email contact if you'd rather write than call.
