Post by fady1 » Thu Jan 16, 2025 2:36 pm

Hi,
Hope all is well. My daughter is travelling with her school outside of Ireland and I was wondering if it would be neccessary to acompany her in order to reenter or can I get her a reentry visa otherwise what should be the process. Accpreciate insights based on actual experience. Thank you.

If you have permission to remain in Ireland legally there’s no need for a re-entry visa as same has been abolished a while back.

Extract from Citizen Advise Bureau

“Children under 16 do not get an IRP. They can return to Ireland without a re-entry visa if they are travelling with parents or guardians”

Out of curiously does your daughter require a visa to travel to the country where her school is going?

But what if they're traveling without parents or guardians?

Depending on their residency status in Ireland, such a student might also require a re-entry visa to come back to Ireland. The Irish Immigration website will be able to advise on this.
I would strongly advise OP to apply for a re-entry visa for their child in this case.

Hi, thank you for your answer. I've been recently naturalized as an Irish citizen. So would the same rule still apply?

She is not Irish, so yes.
