BRC Return after naturalisation

Post by Ixeon659 » Tue Jan 28, 2025 9:58 am

My wife is a non-EEA national, she has EU Settled status. She also has an expired BRC card. Soon we will apply for naturalisation for her, so the question is, does she need to return the expired BRC after she gets naturalised?

BRPs and BRCs have now expired and have been replaced by the EVisa system. No point returning them.

So they won't expect us to return it and won't fine us?

In years we haven’t seen regular reports of fines being received. Suggest you either destroy it or personally I would keep with my immigration/naturalization paperwork, more a souvenir than anything else.
By all mean you can send it in for them to discard it, you pay the postage!

As long as she doesn't use it to travel, very unlikely she would be fined. This wouldn't be a problem anyway as physical BRCs and BRPs are no longer valid as proof of status. Personally I would keep it just in case one day you need to prove your immigration status at a certain date.
