Fiancee Visa - Timeline is getting very tight

Post by PersonEastMidlands » Mon Feb 03, 2025 4:52 pm

Dear all,

Due to many delays, we're only just being able to give notice for our wedding on the 13th of February. But, my fiancee's fiancee visa will expire on the 13th of April. It looks as if the earliest we can marry, if everything goes OK, is the 15th of March, but the 22nd of March is 'safer' I'm told. However, this is getting incredibly tight.

What is the best strategy here? Should I apply for an extension of the financee visa ahead of time? Can I get an expediated applicaiton for a Spouse visa done in a short time if I pay more? What are the things I can do?

If we keep getting delayed, and she has to go back to her country after marriage, what happens then?

It seems that if I apply for an extension, that by using the super priority service I can get a decision by the end of the next working day. So, that means that it is possible to get a quick decision on an application to extend a visa.

I'm guessing the same will apply for application for a spouse visa.

Looking at Google Flights, if we're prepared to pay a lot for a flight, she can return home (temporarily) in a big hurry. We hope this won't be necessary, but it looks like we can run things close but still guarantee that she won't overstay her visa if visa things won't happen.
