UK Visitor Visa to Son.

Post by William1Watson » Fri Feb 07, 2025 3:43 pm

Hi,
I have a query regarding UK Visitors visa for my son, please clarify.

I'm a British Citizen. My son and wife are Indian citizens currently. Before my son was born I was already a British Citizen. My son was born in India. Currently my son is 7 years old. So when he first came to UK he had to apply for "UK Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode" to enter UK. It has now expired, in 2023. Since then we haven't travelled to UK. But now my son and wife wants to travel to UK for tourism. Can we apply for visitor visa to my son now? I know we can apply for UK visitors visa to my wife. My main question is - can we apply for visitor visa to my son to come to UK OR do we have to get a British Passport for him to enter UK?

Your son is a British citizen and cannot apply for a visa.
He either (ideally) needs to apply for a British passport or for a new "UK Certificate of Entitlement to Right of Abode".
Presumably your son has an Indian passport, so the certificate route should be faster (and more expensive) than applying for BP.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Then can I apply for my son's British Passport here in the UK on his behalf or does my son needs apply for it in India?

I live in UK and have a house here with all the bills like council tax, electricity bills etc.
