Obtaining the work permit after started the work during COVID.

Post by dc_ch129 » Mon Feb 24, 2025 3:53 pm

Hi Zimba,

Thank you for this helpful guidance. So just to confirm, I have a similar sort of situation. COS was issued by my employer on 30 June 2020 (Tier 4 graduate to Tier 2 general work visa). I started working for my employer from 5 July 2020 and made a Tier 2 application on 13 August 2020. Received my BRP on 29 October 2020 with a validity from 15 October 2020 and up to 19 July 2025. Therefore, technically speaking, I can apply for ILR from 16 July 2025 onwards, i.e., 28 days before making the Tier 2 application. Please let me know if my understanding is correct? I confirm there is no issue of spending 180 days outside the UK in a given year or changing jobs in between.
