There are no conditions per se attached to renewing. You can renew if she's in the country before expiration of visa and conditions haven't changed.elbuttano wrote: ↑Sun Feb 23, 2025 4:17 pmHello, I'm looking for some advice/guidance around how to approach the periods of absence for our unmarried partner visa renewal submission. I haven't been able to find any definitive information on how much time one must spend in the UK to qualify for visa renewal.
In our case, my partner had to return to her home country due to her father becoming ill, he was diagnosed with dementia and she had to move him out of his house and find him a home etc, it all took 5 months in the end. There was nobody else who could take care of him.
Even with this long absence, combined with other trips abroad we have taken, I have calculated that of the 955 days the visa is valid for, by the time of expiry at end of April she will have spent 530 within the UK (equates to around 55%).
On the application form there is a section where you input dates of absences, but then after there is another section which says something like "Please provide details of any other absences not mentioned earlier".
I wondered if I might use this second open text field to log and explain the lengthy absence? Should I also mention there my calculations to reemphasise that over half the visa time has been spent in the UK?
TIA for any advice.
