Hi All,
Just sharing my story here to see if anyone else if facing similar issues. Got a temp. Permission under chencholiah last year Feb 2024 for one year which is valid until Feb 2025. Never heard anything from department during 2024. End of November 2024 I went back to my lawyer to apply for extention or get the result. Lawyer sent email in early December but till now did not hear anything back from the department not even a confirmation email or acknowledgement. Now my visa is expiring this month and I am still waiting for the department to reply. Very stressful situation. Is anyone else facing similar issues ?

Hi Lenovo,

Haven’t you received the temporary Stamp 1 yet? As far as I know, in most cases, a temporary Stamp 1 is issued immediately while the final decision is being processed, and then Stamp 4 is granted afterward.

Hi Nickj88,

I received my Stamp 1 in 2022. In 2023 they gave me again Stamp 1 instead of Stamp 4.
In 2024 they gave me Stamp 4 for one year and asked me to apply for extension six weeks before the expiry
date of stamp 4. I sent them documents eleven weeks before but i did not receive any reply from
department. My solicitor sent them reminder two times because my visa is expiring on 25 April 2025. Today
they send me form 9 and criminal form and asked me to fill the form and send back to them in 15 days.
can you please tell me is this normal, after getting stamp 4 again they send forms and asked all detail
again. Thanks

Hi Lenovo I haven’t received any temporary stamp 1 or temporary stamp 4 after applying in chenchooliah. I received schedule 9 form and criminal form in November 2024 and they also asked me to send them in 15 days and I sent them but since I sent them forms no response from Department and this is also strange that after granting you stamp 4 they asking you to send those forms again I didn’t understand why they asked you for those forms and I have no idea if this is normal or not. Did you ask your solicitor about it what did he said is it normal or not?

Hi Lenovo,

It actually isn’t too unusual for the Department of Justice to request additional documentation like Form 9 and a criminal background form, even after issuing a Stamp 4 previously. They sometimes reassess or update their records, especially when moving from a temporary status (like multiple Stamp 1s) to a longer-term permission like Stamp 4. It's likely part of a deeper background check or standard due diligence before extending a longer-term residency permission.

It’s a good sign that they've responded and asked for forms — it means your application is being reviewed. You’ve also done the right thing by applying well in advance and having your solicitor follow up. Just make sure to return the completed forms and any requested documents within the 15-day window they provided.

If you haven’t already, keep proof of submission for your records (email receipts, postage tracking, etc.), and continue working closely with your solicitor — they’ll be able to follow up directly if needed.

Hi worldwidefun,

Last year they did not ask me for form 9, they sent me just criminal form. I think this is a new form.
that is why they asked me to send this form.
Do you know anyone who received stamp 4 in recent days or they issue removal order. I dont know what is
their policy now a days, department is strict now a days.

My visa is expiring on 25 april 2025. I was planning to apply for mortgage, i have completed all the
documents for mortgage but now i cant apply for it because my visa will finish in 15 days.
Please update me if you have any news.

Hi friends,
Hope everyone is fine. Can anyone share his experience or information further extension under Chenchooliah category visa. Last year I have received stamp 1 under chenchooliah category which is still valid for more than 6 months. Now last week I received a letter in which they required number of documents from last 5 years including current job letter.

Thanks.
Yes i follow this
