Not supporting extension of a spouse visa consequences

Hi,
I have sponsored a spouse visa last year and then decided not to continue our relationship. He left my home and moved to another city. I did not report it to HO as he is my first cousin and my family was insisting on waiting. We have no contact since June last year other than updates through family members. I see no hope in this relationship. Should I just wait and do not support his renewal which is due in 21 months or do I have to report it now? Can HO object if i do not support renewal and question me why I did not report it earlier? I understand no one can advise me what to do when? I just need to know if I might get into trouble for not supporting his renewal?

If your relationship has broken down and you no longer have contact with your husband, you may find it beneficial to report this to the Home Office without waiting until his visa extension is due in the future.

Only the Home Office can cancel his visa, but you can refuse to support his FLR(M) application.
