Family visa for wife and step daughter

Post by yyfamily » Sun Mar 02, 2025 6:15 pm

Hi all,

I am seeking clarification on a few points regarding my spouse's UK family visa application and my stepdaughter's dependent visa application.

Background:

I am divorced from my ex-wife, and we have a son together.

My current wife is divorced from her ex-husband, and they have a daughter together.

I hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in the UK.

We got married in Malaysia in December 2024, and my wife is now applying for a UK family visa as my spouse. We have all the necessary documents, and I understand that any non-English documents must be translated into English by a certified translator.

Questions:

Communication Logs and Evidence of Relationship:

Is it necessary to provide communication logs (e.g., WhatsApp messages, call logs) and photos of us traveling together? These items are not explicitly listed as required documents, but I’ve seen advice on forums suggesting they should be included. If required, how far back should these logs go?

Stepdaughter’s Visa Application:

I am unsure how to apply for my stepdaughter. The application process for a child seems confusing, and I don’t see an option to add her as a dependent on my wife’s spouse visa application. Should she apply as a dependent on my wife’s application, or does she need a separate application as a child? I believe the financial requirements may differ depending on the route we take. Could you clarify which form we should use and how the financial proof will be assessed?

Based on what I read, my wife is joining me as partner a person with indefinite leave to remain (me), If they are applying as one of these, you must fill in the Appendix FM online form. Thus I believe my step daughter should be using Appendix FM online form, am I right?

As far back as possible. You want to show that your relationship is subsisting and genuine. Just last weeks chat wouldn't do that.

Stepdaughter’s Visa Application: where is her father and what custody right does the mum have?

No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

- Sure, I will provide as much as I could, all our conversation and call is using whatsapp, is it just export all or screen shot and text?

Stepdaughter’s Visa Application: where is her father and what custody right does the mum have?
- Mum has full custody, her family in Malaysia but not really bother and contacting his daughter since 2020. I assume we will need to translate the document from the court into English about the full custody?

Thanks.

Additional question, may I know which translator should my wife use in Malaysia to translate the document from Malay to English? Is it any approved translator by UK home office we need to use their service?

I am applying family visa for my step daughter, but on the IHS amount to pay,it is zero. I don't think this is correct. What can I do, try google online don't find the answer.

IHS amount to pay
0 USD
This amount is based on £0. It also includes a fee for currency conversion.
