Concerns about Entering the UK with an Expired Fiance Visa

Post by cvikomicic » Mon Mar 24, 2025 2:35 am

I’m looking for some advice regarding my situation. Last year, I applied for a UK fiancé visa, but due to personal reasons — I had to delay both the move and the wedding. My partner and I decided it would be better to postpone everything until we stabilize ourselves.

I never used the fiancé visa, and I haven’t visited the UK since then. Now, as an EU citizen, I’m eligible for the UK ETA. My concern is that I have an expired and unused fiancé visa in my passport, and I’m worried that this might cause issues at the UK border when I try to visit my partner.
Could this impact my ability to enter the UK? Will the expired fiancé visa affect the approval of my ETA application, or is it irrelevant?

Additionally, I’m planning to apply for a spouse visa next year after we marry. Will the fact that I’ve had an expired fiancé visa and delayed the move cause any complications when applying for a spouse visa, or is this something I shouldn’t worry about?

ETA government website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/apply-for-a ... sation-eta
We can't predict what (if anything) will happen on specific scenarios - ETA is new.
Suffice to say that visitor rules aren't changing, ETA doesn't guarantee entry.
