Re: Foreign Birth Registration

I noticed some problems with spreadsheet. Can the owner correct the write protect please?

There was a load of spurious data pasted into cells P1011..X2016. Looks like it was probably a copy of some of the main sheet data at some point in time. Regardless, it obviously had no business being there - I've deleted it.

Lots of the cell formulas on the empty lines at the bottom of the sheet were missing. Also missing in column P from row 1011 down due to the above pasted data. I've added the correct formulas back, all the way to the bottom of the sheet.

Looks to me like the write protect needs adding to the white cells from rows 699 onward, and also to the entirety of columns O and P. If that had been in place I'm assuming the pasted data wouldn't have been possible. It seems quite likely some users may have unknowingly overwritten the unprotected formula cells with data, so probably best to copy the formula back into all "read only" cells and then write protect.

Thanks!

I just copied & posted it as it is. Author had, "resurrected" from its earlier version which had been closed. Hopefully they see your post and fulfill it. I found it very helpful when I had applied for FBR as to actual timeline experiences even with the problems. Hope all your FBR dreams come true out there!

But it’s now on your Google drive, right? I think that makes you the owner. :D

Yes, it’s a very useful resource. But when regular users can edit calculated cells it will become less useful over time. Those cells need setting read only so that can’t happen. :)

NOOOO! I do not want to be the owner! Also, anyone can edit it, I think. We also need someone younger as I am in my 70's. I just copied and pasted the link on this site. I think anyone can do it. I hate Google docs and am not proficient enough. Unless they help me somehow:))). I did not even notice what you pointed out. Obviously, you are the person for the job!! See a mistake correct it I always say.

Yes, anyone can edit the non-write protected cells (blue). But only the owner can edit the ones they’ve write protected. Go to one of the white cells at the top and try and enter data. You’ll see that you can’t and are told to contact “the owner”. Users can only enter data in the blue cells.

That’s basically the whole point of it being set up like that. ;)

Make the cells with the formulae in write protected so regular users don’t accidentally “mess up” the workings of the sheet by deleting and changing any formulae.

I’d be quite happy to make the changes, but as I’m not the owner I can’t add write protection to cells either. Only the owner can do that. Let’s hope they’re along shortly to help fix things. :)

Congratulations.
What were the two extra pieces of documentation if you feel able to say? My documents were received end of July 2024 so am hopeful of hearing soon.

thanks

Thank you.

One of my documents for address was declined so I needed to provide another. They provided helpful guidance on that to me.

I didn’t provide sufficient evidence in the right form in relation to the witness. Some of which was my fault and some was concern about evidence that might have caused confusion.

I think in summary I assumed a level of detail and accuracy for a UK passport, but the DFA quite reasonably were more thorough.

Thanks.

On my printed application form I left out the second line of my address so added it in pen. I wonder if that's going to scupper things.

Happy to be advised of anyone else's experiences.
