MN1 - Supporting documents and biometric

Post by Hassanmkhan » Mon Apr 14, 2025 5:31 am

Dear All,

I hope you are well.

I made a post earlier but I think the subject line was not clear so I am reposting and I will try and delete the previous post.

Firstly I want to state that I tried to look for these details throughout the weekend but I was not able to find sufficient information and only then I am posting and taking up your time.

I am applying for my son's British nationality through the MN1 manual form which I will be posting from Pakistan and I wanted to request answers for the following questions:

a) anyone know of the safest way to post this from Pakistan?

b) I am attaching my new and old passport, my birth certificate, my mother's birth certificate, mine and my parents marriage certificate, my degree and the applicants birth certificate, which of these documents needs to be original and which as copies, do the copies need to be attested or just simple photocopies?

c) Can someone guide me on how to book the biometric appointment in Lahore Pakistan ?Do I need to do this myself or will I get a reply with further details, my son is 6 years old by the way.

I had a million questions but I have tried to keep this post as simple as possible so I don't waste anyone's time.

Many thanks

Best

Many thanks

What is your child's claim to British citizenship based on? Are you a British citizen by naturalisation or birth?

Many thanks for responding.

I am British by descent but my mother (the applicants paternal grandmother) is British otherwise by descent so we are claiming through section 3(2).

Hey I have an update so I thought I should post here for everyone's knowledge.

I just called the helpline on gov.uk and they were not able to answer regarding the documents (original or photocopies) but they said that regarding the biometric, once I post my form I will be prompted accordingly.

Can someone confirm that this is the case and whether this prompt will be via email or post?

I will really appreciate if someone could get back to me regarding which documents need to be original and which color/b&w photocopies and also the best way to post my form and documents from Pakistan.

Many thanks guys

Not sure about the procedure from Pakistan but your degree is not needed so don't send it. You must demonstrate that you lived in the UK for 3 years prior to the child's birth, ideally through passport stamps.

Thanks again for responding!

I got that covered through my old passport which I will be sending along with the application.

Can you please advise which documents need to be original and which photocopies, also do I just include them in the same envelope as the form?

I am also confused regarding the biometric and I will trace my application if I send it via post.

Guys I'll make it event simpler for you to answer:

Q1) If I am posting the manual form:
A) I will be prompted with a login to book an appointment for the biometric after I have applied
B) I need to book the biometric appointment myself pre applying

Q2) If all the documents I submit are original except my passport, I will be fine sending a color photocopy as long as I also include my original birth certificate:
A) Yes
B) No

Q3) my best option will be to send the form along with the documents in one envelope using the tracking option of a local courier such as:
A) DHL
B) FedEx

Guys I have made it much easier hoping I now get some response.

I hope someone does answer now.

How to post MN1 form from Pakistan to Liverpool

Post by Hassanmkhan » Wed Apr 16, 2025 1:03 pm

Hi everyone,

I made a post the other day but those questions were completely different to this post, I didn't get any answers so I just took a chance with my common sense.

I will now ask only one question hoping I get an answer this time, this is a very important question as I am posting the payment slip with bank details and all original documents.

My question is can someone recommend which type postal service and company to use when sending the MN1 form from Pakistan to Liverpool.

Many thanks
