Skilled Worker Visa - Employer Switch Query

Post by AgentMimiX » Mon Apr 14, 2025 6:22 pm

Hi everyone, I'm new here! Would need some help regarding my case of switching employer. :D

I'm currently in the UK under SWV, which I got in August 2022 and expires in August 2025 with company X. I am going to serve my notice period soon, which ends in early July 2025.

I'm planning to change employer to company Y which employment will start in mid July 2025, so I will need to update my SWV.

Company Y have assigned me the CoS, and expecting me to process my visa application soon. My question is, if I apply to update my SWV now and got approved earlier than July 2025 (say, next week), will I still be able to serve my notice period with company X until early July? Is my right to work with company X automatically revoked (and I have no right to work until I start employment in July?)

Your advice are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes.

Once the new SWV is approved, company X is no longer your sponsor but you can still work the notice period. That's considered within the immigration rules.

The new sponsor would set the work start date accordingly.
