Traffic violation investigation

Post by jhapali » Mon Mar 24, 2025 10:41 pm

Hi all,
About a year ago I was investigated for potential careless driving offence after minor collision at traffic lights. After reviewing dash cam and my statements police replied ,

' I can now confirm that I have concluded my investigation in to the road traffic collision that you were involved in on January 16th, 2024.
No further action will be taken by police in regards to this incident.
It will be your insurance companies responsibility to handle this matter further.'

Do I need to mention this in my naturalisation application?

You can mention it just to be safe, unlikely to make a difference for your application if it is the only factor against your good character.

Thank you _svy
I have couple of more questions. I have 9 total home office past application since 2009. I can't remember exact dates of first few visa applications . I can tell the year and could guess months maybe based on visa issues date( I must have applied around 2 months before new visa issueance date) . Is it OK to just write year or should I guess approximate month too?
I have few ( maybe total 4) parking ticket in last 5 years but all paid. Do I have to mention this too?

Many thanks

Are they PCNs or FPNs? if FPNs you must declare them. Declare as much detail about your visas as you can remember and explain in a cover letter that your dates may be inaccurate as it's been so long ago. It won't affect your statutory requirements.

Thank you again.

I am not sure if they were pcn or fpn. I am sure they were all issued by council/ parking management company. Not police.
So am I right to assume they were all PCN ?

It would be best to double check with the council, or declare them if you are in doubt.

You need to find out if they were PCNs or FPNs. Contact your council and ask for all the details. If they issued them all, they were PCNs and you are fine. If not you need to mention them.

I managed to find 2 letters regarding parking tickets both were issued by private company. But I can't remember if there was third or fourth ticket or not. I feel like there was more but not in my recollection whatsoever. I tried my best to remember. I looked through all the old letter plus checked bank statement to see any payment was made or not. But there isn't any evidence I find apart from last 2 pcn letter. However, my feeling still exist of being one more letter. ( I am sure even if there was one more letter that i can't remember , it's likely to be pcn. ) (I have never had speeding, red lights, stopped by police or dangerous parking/ violation) so not likely to be any FPN letter.

If you aare confident it was a PCN and that you paid it (no court orders or similar) you don't need to declare them.

Thank you alterhase58.

I haven't seen any clear guidelines regarding scanned referee declaration and saw some conflicting information on google. Some suggested referee need to see the applicant with original photographs!
So Just to confirm I have downloaded and printed declaration form then I attached my photo then I scanned it and send to my referee for them to print and sign and send back to me by scanning it. Is this OK?

Thank you contorted_svy.

One of my referee who is a solicitor ( not immigration) suggested In her knowledge she thought she needs to see me personally with photograph before signing the documents.
So the final question is does referee need to see applicant personally with photograph to sign referee documents? Please suggest.

No.

I think you were advised about it before.

That's just an outdated instruction still in the referee form that causes confusion. The form with the photograph attached will be scanned and uploaded together with the other documents, whatever is written on the back of the photo will not be legible.

If she has seen you before she will be able to confirm your appearance from the picture that you will send. As far as she feels comfortable doing this online, it is not mandatory that she must see you in person.
