TfL prosecution?

Post by paulS » Thu May 22, 2025 8:52 pm

Hello,
I was recently prosecuted by TfL regarding fare evasion. I am planning to plea guilty. This will lead to a criminal conviction but not recorded in police system since it should be a minor offence. I'm currently holding ILR. Could you please advise how would this affect my citizenship application? Would this also affect my ILR status? Thank you very much!

won't affect your ILR. You will need to pay what you owe (I assume the most likely outcome will be you need to pay a fine) and declare it when you apply for citizenship. Do you have anything else against your good character?

Thank you for your reply.
No, I dont have anything else against my good character.
I find somewhere else says you need to wait for 36 months after the conviction, is that true?

Where does it say this? Have you read the good character guidance?

Clearly a recent offence doesn't look great. But this is not a.serious offence. I suggest you take up some volunteering in the community as a mitigating factor, to show you don't want to offend again and are committed to improving the community.

Thank you @contorted_svy
I saw the 36 month rule from some bbs discussions but cannot find it anymore. I read the good character guidance. Thank you so much for the information!
