Help with Council

Post by play33 » Mon Jun 02, 2025 3:17 pm

Application date 14/03

Biometrics 20/03

Approval date:19/05 (email from atlas)

But council don't reply messages and still don't have give a ceremony date. Tried to call but they don't answer questions over the phone. Anyone with the same problem on the North Northamptonshire Council. It's about 2 weeks from the email approval. I contacted the West Northamptonshire council and they replied to me in 1 hour, but can't give dates because I need to change council. How to do this?

Thanks

You can't change council at this stage. I suggest you go there in person and keep calling and send emails too. It says on their website they take up to 5 working days to reply to emails.

If emails or phone calls are not working, try going there in person - if possible - and explain your situation to someone at the relevant department.

Requesting a change in venue for the citizenship ceremony will cause much further delays, as the request will go through the Home Office, the certificate returned to the Home Office, who will then send it across to the new council.

You would be much better off contacting your existing council and chasing them further.
Wakefield Council - Citizenship ceremonies wrote:Procedure for citizens wanting to change the venue of the ceremony to another district

If a citizen wishes to change the venue of the ceremony to another district, you must contact us to arrange for the necessary paperwork to be returned to the Home Office. They will then re-send the paperwork to the new register office conducting the ceremony. This will delay when the citizen can have the ceremony and receive their certificate.
