Documents to send after Citizenship ceremony for British passport- help

Post by DreamerBeliever » Tue Jun 17, 2025 9:39 pm

Hello Moderators

Me and my spouse attended a private citizenship ceremony yesterday. We had submitted our naturalisation application under the same reference number. We now have both of our naturalisation certificates.

Today, I submitted the online passport application and also got the identity confirmed for both of us. Now I am preparing to send the supporting documents to the passport office.

On the documents to send for my British passport, I have 4 questions to ask

1. Which passport office - both of us got assigned different passport offices to send, but I read on the guidelines that if we are Applying as part of a family or couple - I can send the documents to any of the addresses they’ve given us. Hope this is okay? (just cross confirming)

2. Photographs - on our application tracking dashboard, under the documents - what we need to send - there is NO mention of sending passport size photographs. However, in the printed guidance we got at the citizenship ceremony (along with the naturalisation certificates), there is mention of sending 'two recent passport photos". Do photos need to be sent or not?

3. Passport - We entered the UK on a passport which is now expired and cancelled. The Applicant's document list is a bit vague - it asks us to send the passport used to enter the UK + any current or expired passports from other countries that haven’t been cancelled. Should I send the current passport only or both the current+ the passport I used to enter the UK?

4. How many return envelopes - I am planing to send
a. One exterior envelope addressed to the passport office
b. Two separate self-addressed envelopes - each with passport application reference numbers + name of the applicant - one for me and one for my spouse. I assume my supporting documents will be sent back separately in these two separate self addressed envelopes?
Or do I just send everything in one envelope? Also, do I need to send envelopes for them to send us the passports?

I request your guidance, since I am planning to send these documents at the earliest.

Thanking you as always.

I think that is the case. But others could perhaps confirm.
2. Photographs - on our application tracking dashboard, under the documents - what we need to send - there is NO mention of sending passport size photographs. Photos are required. There's also the option to upload pictures you have taken yourself on your phone/camera, or if using a photo booth via a reference number issued during the booth process.
3. Passport - We entered the UK on a passport which is now expired and cancelled. All passports.

a. One exterior envelope addressed to the passport office

There's no need to send return envelopes, the fees include return postage (there's an option to pay for "secure" delivery. Any envelopes you might send won't be used and may not necessarily be returned (if pre-paid postage envelopes are sent)
I request your guidance, since I am planning to send these documents at the earliest.

Thanking you as always.
