I am applying for a visitor visa for my sister-in-law, who is currently residing and working full-time in Pakistan. I will be acting as her financial sponsor for the trip.

I am employed full-time in the UK and have recently received an annual bonus from my company, which is clearly reflected in both my payslip and bank statement. The bonus amount is sufficient to cover the entire cost of the visit. Would this be acceptable to the ECO as evidence of funding, considering it is not parked money and I have full documentation to support its source?

Additionally, I plan to submit two months of bank statements and three recent payslips. Would this be sufficient?

All I'm hearing are the documents you plan to submit. What about the person applying for the visa. It's more about her. Your documents are just support. You're not the one being vetted.

Visitors visas are broken down basically into 4 main aspects;
1. Funding for the trip: You clearly have the funds for that, what about her?
2. Genuineness of the trip: Is this actually for biz or pleasure.
3. Accommodation: Does the person have enough funding to keep them sorted during the entirety of the trip. Would she have a roof over her head. That's where you come in.
4. Family/Socio-economic Ties: Does the person have enough ties and needs to make them go back to where they came from.

The situation is that she recently started her job in February, and the bank statement submitted reflects this period since February. The school where she teaches requires their staff to open a bank account of their choice, so we have only been able to provide the bank statement from that time onwards.

So why does she want to rush the application? Isn't it better to wait a bit, get more stability and have a better chance of visa being granted?

Why risk a "half baked Ben and Jerry's"?

Visa applications needs to be prepared for not just wing it.

Thanks for the advice! The application’s already submitted with all the documents we could get, including payslips and bank statements. We know six months is ideal but hope the info provided is enough. Appreciate your input!

Just an FYI – Visa Approved

I recently applied for a UK visit visa for my sister-in-law and wanted to share my experience for those who are unsure about documentation.

Despite all the talk about needing 6 months’ bank statements, I submitted:

2 months of my own bank statements

3 recent payslips

And for my sister-in-law, 4 months of bank statements

I didn’t have consistent savings in my account, but once I received my annual bonus, I applied immediately. I made sure to clearly show the source of funds (bonus reflected in both payslip and bank statement), and explained everything properly in the cover letters.

The application was approved without issue.

Moral of the story: Quality of documents and clarity matters more than just quantity or myths around '6 months'.
