Non-EU wishing to study in UK???

Posting or a friend....it is not ME who needs the VISA

An friend of mine Non-EEA national visa required, would like to study computer science in the UK. At present he has a Italian residence card, I know this won't necessarily help him in going to the uK to study but thought I should give you the full picture.

He had previously applied to a University in the UK but found it very expensive, as he knows no-one in the UK, I thought I would post here to get some info. He lives and works in Italy many years, he already has a degree in Linguistics, but would like to continue to study. Can anyone reccommend any wesites/Uni's for him to visit???

Thanks for your post Salam.....but I can find this easily on the intenet....I'm asking for people who have studied in the UK....and have experience!

So anyone with experience with studying and applying in the UK! Your advise would be much appreciated....my friend does not wish to stay in the UK when he finishes his studies!

Please note that the UCAS website says
"Application deadline -
midnight 15 January 2009
If you are applying from the UK or European Union (EU), whatever your nationality, don't forget to send your application to us by midnight on 15 January 2009"

Your friend can get an idea about what courses are available. Most broadsheets in the UK will have published reports about the best universities in the UK, so some research will be needed by your friend. Often the best uni will be diferent according to the subject to be studied.

I have known people get into postgraduate courses at quite short notice however. One friend did it in two weeks. She was a home student though.

If your friend wants to study at a private college, please give your friend this link to check that the course leads to a recognised qualification:

or if not, one awarded by a uni listed here:

http://www.dcsf.gov.uk/recognisedukdegrees/

The other option is professional courses such as Cisco, Microsoft and so on.
