Confirmation of received application: 24th September 2024
Confirmation email: 6th August 2025

Long time reader of posts, first time posting. I had the unusual scenario of reaching out in July via the webchat to then receive an email that I hadn't paid the application fee. I was told this wouldn't put me to the back of the queue.
Bravo & Congrats! No, they don't send you to the back of the line if you haven't paid but get it done quickly.

I made a post on the FB group about this and thought I would share it here.

How long does a [insert] application take?

As of August 11th, 2025, the lead times are:

FBR Cert:
9.2 months (278.5 days) per Google sheet*
10.1 months (307 days) per web app**
11 months (335 days) per web app predictor***

Passport: 39 days

Assuming no additional docs requested.

Sources:

FBR:

https://irish-passport-helper.replit.app/fbr-timeline

Passport:

https://irish-passport-helper.replit.ap ... -timeline

*The Almighty Spreadsheet averages all applications entered into it.
**The web app has a filter to look at applications with a "Docs Accepted" date within the last 12 months for a more 'real-time' average.
***I made a "Processing Time Forecast" section. This section uses historical processing times and workload (quantity of applications) to come up with a prediction for the current processing time. To reiterate, this is a prediction and should be taken with a grain of salt. There is no good way to know what is going on in the office, but based on the FBR office advertising 9 months and the historical data, one can make some ok predictions.
