Hi
I got the email for the Citizenship approval from the council today (15th Aug-2025) 10:00 am. The email mentioning that the ceremony is booked on so on so date. I didn’t receive any approval mail from Atlas home office.
My questions are:
1. Is it normal that council send the mail for confirming the citizenship application approval by home office before mail from atlas home office? I have to wait from Atlas home office ?
2. As I have planned to travel overseas in month of mid-October-25, is it ok to get my British passport before I travel? (I will apply BP after ceremony-27th Aug 2025)
3. What documents are requiring for applying BP after naturalization? Appreciate if you send link for step by step procedure for applying first BP.

this can happen. Your email may arrive in the next week or so. If you don't get the email from Atlas just inform the council before attending the ceremony.
2. As I have planned to travel overseas in month of mid-October-25, is it ok to get my British passport before I travel? (I will apply BP after ceremony-27th Aug 2025)
It isn't just OK, you must get a British passport to travel, once you are British. There will be more than enough time to get your passport though.
3. What documents are requiring for applying BP after naturalization? Appreciate if you send link for step by step procedure for applying first BP.
You will need your naturalisation certificate, all your current and uncancelled passports, and a digital picture. You must send these as originals. You can apply online here https://www.gov.uk/apply-renew-passport

Thanks for information.
I have planned to visit India, so I have first apply for the British Passport and then immediate surrender the Indian Passport.
Just wondering to ask is there enough time to get surrender certificate before travel in mid of October ? I have to apply visa for india travel and later on I will apply for OCI, is that correct understanding ?
Please reply.
