Travel before Curtailment Letter - Is it risky

Post by user222888 » Wed Sep 17, 2025 7:36 pm

My skilled worker visa started on March 2025. My last working day was on September 1 2025 at my current company that I just left. On September 8, my company notified UKVI that it was my final day of employment. Of course, I am still waiting for the curtailment letter. I don’t know how long it will take for the letter to arrive.

Is it risky to travel before the letter arrives? I know the letter could come at any time. But, for example, since my company declared my employment ended to the Home Office on September 8, would it be a problem if I left the country on, say, September 29 (about three weeks later) for just two days? It would be just 3 weeks since their declaration date.

Does the officer at the airport see that my company declarated my last day was sept8th or is it the case that until I receive the curtailment letter, I am still on skilled worker visa with no issues/questions?

Let’s say there’s no issue at the airport and I manage to re-enter the UK after my travels from sept 29- oct 1st. Later on, could UKVI look back and say, “She entered and exited the UK during this period before curtailment,” and consider it a problem and cancel my skilled worker visa.

I am a U.S. citizen. Does that give me any advantage? For example, since I use the electronic gates at the airport and don’t usually have to speak to a person, so technically people can't question me. But would it be still seen electronically in the system and I an be rejected?
