psw-any other options??

Post by optimystical » Thu Jan 15, 2009 4:31 pm

hi forumers,

i have finished my postgrad in london in october and i want to apply for visa extension thru P S W..my current student visa ends jan 31...my degree convocation is due in march..im an artist and work here on freelance basis..

* though i tried to maintain a balance of 800£ ..it dipped below to 675£ for 2 weeks in november...and i learned from the other posts that theres no way i cud get an extension based on this..

now im worried and thinking to apply or not(save 400£ now)...

one option i was told is to show supporting bank statements from my account in home country to fill up the deficit in november along with a covering letter from me and the bank

option two ..is to return home and apply from there for PSW...(wats the success rate?)

option three.. is to find an employer who could sponsor me a stay and work here.

wat do u suggest me since you guys seem to be more aware of this immgration stuff ...please help and make me feel positive again.thanx.

As for as I am aware you can use more than one of your accounts.

However, I note you have said:
im an artist and work here on freelance basis
Students are not allowed to set themselves up in business. It depends exactly what you mean by this.

para 9.59, page 565, Immigration Law and Practice in the United Kingdom, Seventh edition, Ed Ian A Macdonald QC and Ronan Tool
"In Strasburger v Secretary of State for the Home Department the Tribunal held that the sale by a student of her artwork was not to be regarded as a breach of a condition not to engage in business. Provided a student complied with the requirements of the student rules, the fact that he or she sold the occassional picture, or indeed all that he or she produced, could be disregarded"

It should be 100% if you score all the points and meet the requirements of the rules!

If you apply from overseas, you need to show that you have £2,800 however. See:

Please don't stay beyond the date on your visa if you are looking to apply from abroad, in your best interest. Salam can you stop giving out false information!

hi optimystical,
as u wrote in ur messege tht ur degree is due in march and ur visa will expire on 31st january so i thnk u cant apply for psw with out ur degree my suggestion to u is dont apply for psw right now.u can apply for psw after march when u will get ur degree before tht u can fill zero form its a kind of visa for which u can apply if u r waiting for ur degree. during this duration u can maintain ur bank statements as well. one of my friend he applied for psw without his degree but ho sended him refusal.

i am not an expert and i dont have much knowledge about student category since i am here in different category. but what i am curious about is, as you said your student visa is expiring, can't you extand your student visa? cant you enroll in to different subject or course and extand your student visa? why do you have to extand in PSW category only? is there any restriction or something that you can not extand your stuent visa to other course or a higher degree for example, masters or phd or whatever?

hey nion...yes i finished my post grad here...and spent quite a lot of money on study and living...i did this only in order to find a suitable job which is in my opinion a difficult task wen ur are in another country....so i had to chooose to do a course here and then fiind job

ofcourse u can apply for a visa extension one option being furthur study-which i dont want to coz my priority is to find a job and earn money and challenge the skills i learnt

and other option being apply for a visa extension via P S W where u get an extension for 2 more years tofind work .u can do it from here or ur native cuntry...(i basically messed up my chance of applying from here)

yes thats why i am saying for now get your student visa extandtad and as soon as you have 3 months bank statment of 800 apply for psw. can't you apply for psw with the degrre that you already earned (pgd) even though you may enroll to other course?

DO NOT OVERSTAY EVEN A COUPLE OF HOURS.
leave a day before your visa expires.
that is, if you want to come back.
go back home and maintain req. balance and apply.
LEAVE BEFORE VISA EXPIRES. CHANGE YOUR FLIGHT TIME.

stay in ho good books by following rules.

I have never heard of form zero.

I dont think HO will extend your visa since you have finished your studies and are only waiting for your degree. not sure of that.

helo jarquin, can't he extand his visa in another category? say different course or higher course such as phd or whatever? he still have valid student visa. so he should be able to do this... correct me if i am wrong.
