Changes to language requirement

Post by jsanc » Mon Sep 29, 2025 7:42 pm

Have read on the news that the language requirement will go up from B1 to B2. If you get pass B1 test now, will it still be valid if they then change the rules and say you must have B2? It is a substantial jump. (Not for me, asking for someone else)

Basically asking if the person should still take B1 now, or wait and see if the rules change and if B2 is needed. Expected time of naturalisation application is May 2026.

There are no official proposals being discussed at the moment, so it's impossible to know.
