Different name spelling in old passport

Post by eugnov » Wed Oct 15, 2025 7:10 pm

Hi all,

Maybe I am being paranoid here, but only now that I've started my naturalisation application, I noticed that my name was spelled slightly differently in one of my old passports due to transliteration from a different language. My first name is Evgeniya. In the passport I held in 2006-2011 (I was 10-15 years old), it is spelled as Evgenia (without the extra "y" after "i").

Do I need to disclose this in the "Have you been known by another name" section? I have travelled with this old passport to the UK as a child tourist a few times. If yes, what do I answer when asked "what was your name at birth?" since technically both spellings are the same name in my language :?

Thank you very much in advance.

Just declare the difference of spelling in a cover letter.
