Skilled worker visa outside UK - Need help - Simple query

Post by talrejaashish2010 » Sat Nov 01, 2025 2:36 pm

Hey everyone,

My wife is currently on a UK Skilled Worker visa and has completed 3 years with her current sponsor. She’s planning to travel to India soon, and there’s a chance she might receive a new job offer from another UK company that’s also a licensed sponsor.

If that happens while she’s in India, can the new employer issue her a new Certificate of Sponsorship so she can apply for a Skilled Worker visa from India?

Also, will her 5-year ILR (Indefinite Leave to Remain) clock continue from her previous 3 years, or will it reset since she’d be applying from outside the UK?

As your spouse will be applying for an entry clearance from India and not an extension within the UK, I believe that the ILR clock will restart from zero, if she were to go down this route (apply from outside the UK).

What is your UK immigration status? Are you her dependent?
