Dependents of ILR holder, applying for their own ILR

Post by milimolo » Sun Nov 30, 2025 9:14 pm

Hi all,

I already have ILR, and my 11-year-old son and my wife currently hold dependant visas under me. They will both complete their 5-year qualifying period next year. Under the new immigration rules announced by the Home Secretary, can my family still apply for their own ILR after 5 years, or have the rules changed for dependants?

Thank you

When they applied for their current visa, they would have gotten a note that tell them when they're due to apply for ILR. That still stands.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!

only this is written on their visa acceptance email:

"your application as a dependant of **** **** on the Global Talent route has been successful. You have been granted permission to stay in the UK as a dependant child until 14 Nov 2027"

I was on a GTV for three years before I was granted ILR. They are still continuing theirs to complete the "previously" required 5-year period. Not sure what the new rules will do to them
