New Citizenship rules - Buying / Mortgaging home

Post by Jk2007 » Fri Jan 16, 2009 9:54 pm

With all the uncertainty about the settlement, will it be better to avoid any commitment here (like buying a home), until you become citizen?
The reason is that if you are refused "provisional citizenship", you may have to leave, and you may not have enough time to sell your home.

If you have already purchased a home, should you sell it and keep the money with you, instead of being committed to the property?

It is kind of a double edge sword, when you apply for citizenship they evaluate you on your intent to stay and having a house would make that more credible but why would you invest in a house in such a unclear situation. As you have a house, I think that you have already crossed the bridge so
