Checking Service - any official information

Post by AlexCh » Mon Jun 13, 2005 12:33 pm

Hi Guys,

Can anybody give me any reference to the new Checking Service for naturalisation? A friend of mine is going to apply for naturalisation and would like to use this service, but he could not find any official information.

Thank you

but it says it's a pilot - can residents of London or Reading use it?

Yes, you do not actually have to live in one of those pilot areas in order to use the service. But clearly you need to be prepared to travel to a pilot area in order to utilise the service.

You mention London. Four of the six pilot areas are in London.

For a modest fee, they will check that applications for British nationality are completed correctly and have been submitted with all the necessary supporting documents and the correct fee. They will photocopy and certify valuable documents such as passports and will forward applications to the Home Office by special delivery post. Applications containing all necessary details can be dealt with more quickly than those that are incomplete and those using the service will be able to keep their passports rather than sending them to the Home Office.
Probably one of the main reasons as to why most people (myself included) might opt for taking the time out and applying through NCS.

Just wondering if anyone has an idea about their charges ??? And, with not being a Londoner myself, will equally appreciate it if can find out which of the 4 London locations is nearest to a tube station.

Regards

The charge? Someone who has used the service will be able to confirm. Is it £20 plus VAT = £23.50?

London? Whereabouts do you live? London is a big place ... it might be easier to go to the one nearest to you. Or certainly if you drive and live north of London, maybe go to Hatfield.

But where do you live?

Thanks John.

Infact I don't live in London, thats why was wondering if was to catch a train or coach or come by car, which of the 4 locations would be most suitable.

Khurram, OK you don't live in London, but where do you live? It will be much easier to point you in the right direction if we know where you do actually live.
