Shift to industry from academia on global talent visa

Hello,
I am on a Global Talent Visa; my endorsement letter was granted by the Royal Academy of Engineering in the research field of materials science. If I want to shift my career to industry, how will this affect my visa extension and my application for ILR, as I initially applied for GTV for 2 years and need to extend it for another year and then apply for the ILR?
