Cash Savings for ILR

Post by AGM23 » Mon Aug 03, 2026 9:51 am

Hi all,

My wife was initially granted spouse visa in Feb 2022, she arrived in UK and have once already extended her visa in November 2024.

She will be eligible for ILR next year May 2027.

I would like to ask what is the cash savings requirement for ILR? I have seen conflicting information, some say that it would still be £62,500 some say £34,600 since you only need to prove 1 years financial requirement? can someone please assist?

Thank you

The requirement for cash saving for Entry clearance/permission to stay is higher than ILR stage. That is the source of confusion

You can use a value equal or greater than (cash saving amount - £16,000) towards your ILR. In your case, the min cash saving amount is £34600 (£34600 - £16,000 = £18,600 which is the min income/cash)

Savings must be held in cash in a personal bank / savings account in the name of the applicant, their partner or the couple jointly where that balance should be held for at least 6 months.
