MN1 application: Cancel standard and submit priority

Team - I had submitted MN1 application (no ILR - 10 year lawful residence, at discretion of Home secretary) for my children on July 8th and have bio metrics scheduled for Aug 3rd.

UKVI is currently processing my wife's Set O ILR application(biometric submitted July 20, priority) UKVI had asked additional information about our children(July 24). We responded by referencing our kids MN1 application to HO same day. We are currently waiting for the decision.

As our childrens current visa expires Aug 16th, we are thinking of cancelling our childrens current MN1 application and submit a new application choosing priority option. Reason is that standard processing times are 4-6 months and so our children will be overstaying until the MN1 decision is made.

Based on the above,
1. Can I first submit the new application choosing priority and then cancel the current standard application ? Reason is I don't want to first cancel the current application and end up not finding a priority option for new application.
2. If I go ahead with option 1, we will update HO (for my wife's Set O) about the change in application for children. Will that cause any issues for my wife's Set O ?

The priority service for citizenship applications is very new so we don't know enough or have any data to know of patterns. There is no reassurance you would find a priority slot. In any case, to my knowledge, the lawful residence is only necessary until you submit the application. It should not be an issue if children's visa expires after (though it is recommended to apply for private medical insurance).

I was able to cancel the standard form and submit a new priority application.
I have informed HO (dealing with my wife's Set O) about the change in application.

Good luck. At what time did you find a priority slot? will you have to cancel and rebook biometrics as well?

I refreshed the page at 1 AM BST and saw them available. They weren't available until then.

Yes, after I cancelled the standard application, I cancelled the biometric appointment too. Then booked bio metrics for the priority application.

Received email from HO after 5 hours that application has been canceled and refund will be processed in due course.

We had done the biometrics for kids on 5 Aug.
Got approval email from CT3CaseworkEnquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk on 12 Aug.

So approved in 5 working days for priority application.
