Basic questions to apply for PSW visa

Post by ezapple » Tue Jan 20, 2009 1:41 am

Hello. I graduated from MA course in UK 2007 and I've got IGS visa 2008, which is expired on 15th Feb 2009. Therefore, I am planning to apply for PSW visa early in Feb to stay one more year.

I've maintained the balance of my bank account with over 800 pounds constantly since 1st Nov 2008. It sounds pretty alright so far.

However, I don't know how to download application form, how long to take until getting it and what kinds of documents I need to apply.

I know it's really basic questions, however, essential ones for me. Please answer to my questions and if there seems any problems in my situation, please let me know about it as well. Thanks a lot.

Please have look at following links. Once you filled the application form it will tell you which documents you need to send. But I think, as you are switching from IGS to PSW so you will come under transitional arrangements. Therefore, you just need following documents: -
1. Your passport (to prove your previous IGS leave)
2. Your Bank statement (to prove your maintainane funds)

Transition from IGS to Post Study Worker

Post by mselisabeth » Tue Jan 20, 2009 11:51 am

Those links are indeed useful, as is the following on the UKCISA site:

I find Part D (Immigration History) on the Post Study Worker application form confusing. If I'm currently on the IGS scheme, do I enter this Entry Clearance into questions D2 to D10, or shall I enter my original Student Visa information into this section? I have the added complication that my Student Visa was in my old passport and my IGS visa is in my new passport. I don't want to mess up on this section, since obviously they take any opportunity to reject an application! Thanks for any help you can lend, Elisabeth
