Unmarried partner visa (work permit complications)

Any advise on this case will be very very helpful,

I am a British citizen and I have been living with my Australian boyfriend since July 2001. I owned my own flat and we have bills and statement to prove it.

We would like to apply for Unmarried partner visa since his work permit expires in Aug 2005.

The problem is in 2002, he has changed job and became an IT contractor.
Firm A who applied for the work permit for him in the first place did not write to the Home Office to tell them my boyfriend has changed jobs.

So he has a stamp on his passport for him to stay until Aug 2005 and managed to get IT contract work since he left firm A.

I know our situation is not very hopeful since he is not allowed to changed job on a work permit.

Is there any chance our Unmarried partner visa application will be accepted? If it is rejected will he ever be able to come to UK again?

Twinkle, as his current visa exceeds six months duration when it was issued, and has not yet expired, and the two of you have lived together for over two years, I think he is entitled to apply for an Unmarried Partner visa in the UK.

So assuming lots of proof that the two of you have lived together, and also that the financially it is proved that he will not need to claim certain Public Funds, and assuming the accommodation is suitable and certainly not overcrowded .... well I would say ... go for it.

What I am worry about is since my boyfriend has broken the rules of his work permit by changing job, will HO said he is in the UK illegally and have him deported?
