EU family member, needs visa from london to prague?

Post by Bikos » Fri Jan 23, 2009 8:00 pm

Hello everyone,
I am going to visit london with a UK Visit Visa and I wish to visit my family they are in Prague.
My wife and daughters they are Czech citizens and I have not applied for the residence or visa yet. We have a marriage certificate that is registered and issued in CZ. So I am to the Czech republic recognized as a husband to her.

My question is ... Will I be able to go to Prague and pass the borders with this condetion as I will be coming from an EU country and I am a family member of an EU Alien (Czech in this case as well)? May be with an onward ticket to the country of my origin?
I am an Egyptian so I do need a visa to go to CZ.

What if my wife can meet me at the airport? Would that make any chage?

Thank you and I REALLY hope it can work, as I am limited with time and my wife is terribly sick.

Thanks in advanced.

EDIT: EDITING TOPIC.

Once in the uk you should apply at the cseq embassy for a shenghen visa as the spouse of an EEA family member ( you will have to prove it! marriage certificate etc...)
You should not have a problem obtaining it free of charge on a priority bases and can travel to join ur family no problem
Good luck

From visa section in tne CZ embassy website at London:
FAMILY MEMBERS OF EU CITIZENS who require a visa

You can apply for a visa either in person at the Czech Embassy in London or by post. It takes about one week (maximum 14 days) to obtain a visa. It is free of charge. It is also possible to apply for a visa on arrival, at a border crossing point.
So I can ask for Visa on Arrival ? The question is even if my wife is not with me?

I am afraid to say that I am an Officer for check-in, and putting myself in the postion of the check-in agent, I will have a big time trouble to get this proved.

Will see what I can do. Thank you BIG time for the support.

Location: does not matter if you are with your EEA family member

In general EU law will not apply for this application. The applicant is going to CZ to visit his CZ family. This is a matter solely of CZ law.

That said, I hope the application and visit goes smoothly.
