Implications of Worker Registration Scheme

Post by mbosticky » Fri Apr 30, 2004 8:09 am

Hi

I now work in UK using a Work Permit (WP) with my Australian passport. However I am a Czech national too.

According to the Worker Registration Scheme (WRS) released details article, employees will be able to apply for aresidence permit after 1 year of holding WRS card and certificate.

I do not need the WRS since I am using a WP at the moment. Since I have been here for 2 years using WP but I am also a Czech national, is it possible that i could apply for a residency now?

This would be neet since i could then change a job vithout a fuss.

Any thoughtfull comments will be greatly appreciated.

PS: Perhaps I should just apply for residency anyway, and see what happens?

Czech national, Australian passport holder applying for permanet residence in Britain=====> with hopefully the intention of getting a british passport

.....what a scenario.....

Do you get free airtickets when you have three passports? 8)
Where there is a will there is a way.

It might be useful to review an earlier post similar to your position.

Hi Chess, I would definitely apply for UK citizenship. However that would mean I would loose my Australian and Czech nationality and the passports  If i can get residency, that will be enough.

If I could, I would definitely collect as many passports as possible. I think i will just apply for residency and see what happens.

Cheers, Martin.
