The importance of friends to teenagers that have immigrated

Post by ciaraosull » Thu Feb 26, 2009 5:04 pm

Hi

I’m just wondering if anybody would like to take part in my research by answering a questionnaire?

I’m a postgraduate research student in psychology. I noticed that all most all research on immigration in Ireland has only looked at adults and so I felt it was important to look at the effects that immigration has on teenagers.

My research is entitled ‘Cultural Identity and Values: The Importance of Peers in the Lives of Adolescents that have Immigrated to Ireland’. This study hopes to highlight the important role friends play in the lives of teenagers that have immigrated to Ireland. Mainly in how friends can help develop their cultural identity and values, enabling them to discover who they are with a sense of belonging in a new culture.

The questionnaire will only take a couple of minutes to fill in and it for males and females aged between 12-18 years old that have immigrated to Ireland.

Please let me know if you think you might be interested or if you know anybody that might be interested in filling out my questionnaire.

Thanks for your time
Ciara O’ Sullivan
