Post by mitrkk » Tue Mar 03, 2009 10:21 pm

Hello All:

I am on H1 B here in the United States and applying for PBS Tier 1.
If anyone has done this before or in the process, please respond.
It will be great if anyone can share their experiences.

Thanks,
KK.

Please bear with me for the long list. I just want to make sure everything before I submit my application, as I dont have any other means of support from any agency. I am doing this myself and I have certain doubhts at each stage.

1. I am filing single, which requires for an amount of 2800 pounds( $ 3938 USD exchange rate 1 = 1.4 date 03/03/09 ) for the last three months.

If I print my savings account statements, showing feb '09 $ 8500, Jan '09 $ 8000 and Dec '08 $ 7000, that should be fine right ? Should I show extra months? I meant before Dec '08. Also, I registered for paperless statements with my bank. So, I have all online statements. If I print them that should be fine right ? Should I request paper statements from the bank ?

2. With regards to points calcualtion:
I get 10 points for age which is fine.
For qualification, I have an MS from US university. All my schooling till Bachelors was from India.
There are two options on the points calculator. The one I selected is
Select my qualification from the database
It takes me to the State(eg MICHIGAN) and then I have to pull "MS with an identical specialization in Bachelors". It gives me 35 points. I think that should be fine if I produce the certificate from the University. Right ?

3. Earnings. My W2(Tax form from Employer) shows 70K as income for year 2008. So, if show my w2 and pay stubs for jan, feb 2009 that should be fine. Right? I also can get a letter from my employer stating my payscale. Should I also show my bank statements reflecting the direct deposit every month ? Should I submit all the pay stubs as well ?

4. For English skills, not sure if I should select
I have a qualification that was taught in English Or
I have passed an approved English language test

I gave TOEFL exam in 2001 and passed with a score of 257/300. It expired. Not sure if that will be consider valid.

So, I just chose MS degree. My degree certificate will suffice this requirement, right ?

Regarding the fee, 600 pounds equals 843 USD as of today. What kind of payment do they accept? Can I pay online with credit card on the day of submission of online application or should I send a check along with the documents with an exchange rate of that day ?

With regards to pictures, I got passport pics of 2 x 2 inches from a local store. What I meant to say is, its not exactly 45mm x 35mm specifications. I couldn't find a store that gives that size. I hope that's fine.
