E2 Visa - chances of success

Post by namreg » Mon Jul 11, 2005 2:47 pm

Hi. It has been an ambition/dream of mine for some years to live and work in the USA. I am 52 and have a wife and two children, ages 10 and 5, all of whom support this ambition (the 5 year old doesn't get much of a say!)

Recently I have been investigating the E2 visa route. Having been married before, the equity I have in my property is perhaps less than one would expect at my time of life - about £75K. I am aware that this is probably not enough (one source has advised me I would need about another £10-20K) which I accept. I could make plans to raise this amount of additional capital, but having read some previous postings on this site, it would seem I may be wasting time and effort.

I have researched the E2 visa route about as much as I can on the internet and I am aware of the conditions attached ($100K, marginality etc.) What I would like to know, from someone who is NOT an E-2 visa consultant, is, assuming I have £85-95K capital and a potential business that meets all the requirements, what are my realistic chances of success?

Thanks in advance.
