Switching Back To Hsmp Dependant From Work Permit

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could guide me on the following please:

Can a person switch back to a spouse dependant (HSMP/Tier 1) visa from work permit; if he/she initially entered the UK on the basis of spouse dependant visa (Spouse with a HSMP visa) and later on switched to work permit while the spouse stayed on the HSMP.

Can that person make the switch back while staying in the country or do they have to go back to their country and apply form there?
