Is it acceptable to show maintenance funds for dependent (Wife) from the main applicant's account. Main applicant is using the bank account statement where dependent (Wife) is not the joint account holder.

Yes. See below from the PBS dependent guideline:

48. Personal bank or building society i) statements covering the three-month period immediately before the application. The personal bank or building society statements should clearly show:

the name of the main applicant and/or the family member making the application, or (for children only) the name of the other parent who is also legally present in the United Kingdom;

But funds should be sufficient both for the main applicant as well as the dependent. If you apply for the dependent separatley, it is not permissible to use the same funds again for the dependent.
