My first Travel to UK with Tier 1 (general) visa

Post by srinu_mtb » Mon Mar 23, 2009 11:49 am

Hi,
I have Tier 1(General) Visa to UK valid from 25-Jan-2009, unfortunately i couldn't travel to UK on 25th Jan (which i mentioned as a start date in my Tier 1 application ). Now my question is

1.) How long i can delay my first travel to UK, my visa is valid till Jan-2012. If i travel say after 6 months, will there be any problem in Immegration check at UK.

2.) As per the current job market in UK, none of my friends suggest me to resign my current job in India and go to UK for job search. I am confused what to do, can some one please suggest me.

Thanks in advance.

1. It wont be an issue.
2. Yes, your friends are right. IT market in UK is worsening day by day. Many of my friends aren't getting any single call from Consultants for the past 3 months. I know few of my friend's friends have decided to go back to India after 3 months search and start looking a job in India. I wouldn't advice you to resign your job in the given current economy climate.

You can travel anytime till the expiry of your visa.

Job market is dead in UK. Some may have got the jobs in UK but they are only few. No need to resign if you have job in India.

Hello ppl,

I am facing the same issue, i have Tier-1 starting from 12-03-09 for next 3 years.

Need your expert suggestion regarding the following 3 options:

One should take long leave (Allowed + Unpaid) for like 2+ months to go there and check the market.

OR

Just go there and try your luck.

OR

Wait wherever you are and pray for the job-condition to get better there.

Experts suggest please.

Rgds,

I dont think it is the right time to quit a "job" in India and come here. I have friends (in PL/SQL, C++ and Java) who are trying from 2-3 months with out any luck.

I strongly suggest to have a job before coming here....such as getting an onsite from current employer etc. It takes very less time for the indian savings to melt away in this country, so think twice before taking that decision.

Cheers
Vikram

Hey ,

This is the worst Time in the millenium .

Many contract agencies first asks whether i am british citizen . If not they are not coming back itself .

What ever small job is there is eaten by man eaters like TCS,WIPRO,etc .
