Maintenance with only Dependant's name

Post by lionfly » Wed Mar 25, 2009 3:17 pm

If the maintenance fund is an account with only the Dependan't name, without the main applicant name, will it be OK, with a 12-month joint account statement which is a part of pre-earnings (but not as maintenance fund because it does not keep enough money all the time during the last 3 months)?

The situation details are:

I will be the applicant for Tier 1, and my wife will be the dependant applying together in the same envelope. The 12 month bank statement is of the joint current account with both my name and my wife's name on.

We normally do not keep more than 400 in the joint account all the time. We only transfer enough money into the joint account for paying direct debits and other spendings when needed.

Because my wife is a registered student, no need to pay interests tax, the e-savings account as maintenance evidence is only in my wife's name. My name is not on the e-savings.

We can transfer money between the e-savings account and joint account freely.

As we just look at the Tier 1 application now, so we didn't put enough fund in the joint account 3 months ago.

We went to bank branch, but their staff does not allow to just add my name onto the e-savings account. They ask us to close the existing one, and open another one with joint names.

Will the e-savings account with only dependant's name be eligible as our maintenance evidence?

If it is not, what measure can we take to meet the requirement? e.g. if the bank provide a letter, saying the e-savings account is a linked account with the joint account, will it be OK for Home Office? or other suggestions?

Thank you very much!

If the maintenance evidence is on the Dependant's name, not the Tier 1 applicant's name, will it be refused?

Anyone knows?

I am afraid YES it will be refused...

Main applicants name should be available as an individual account or a joint account.. its ok if dependents name is not on the account but Main applicants name is a must..

the fudns that u have with ur dependents name will be ok for dependents maintenance proof if you can arrange 3-months funds for yourself (main applicant)

Please kindly go through the guidance for what are the other requirements of the Bank statements like BANK NAME< LOGO, ACCOUNT HOLDERS NAME, Date of statement etc..
