Do I need to transfer my WP

The company I work for was overtaken. The jobs remained as it used to be. ie We carry on the work as we used to, no one left the company. However, the name of the company has changed. My WP was issued under the provious company's name. Does my WP need to be transferred, even though nothing has changed except company name?

Yes you will have to change your workpermit as the company on whose behalf workpermit was issued , ceased to exist.

But has the company "ceased to exist"? Could it be that it has merely changed its name, as registered at Companies House?

Miwa, are you absolutely sure what has happened here? Maybe a look at the Companies House index might clarify that.

i don't think you need to change your WP

the company has to inform the HO about the change in name etc

Miwa, that previous name, recently gone into Administration? That information is available on the Companies House website.

It sounds very much like your previous employer got into financial trouble and the administrators were called in. And following that the Administrators might have sold the company's business to your new employer. If that is the case I think your new employer should now apply for a Work Permit for you.

I spoke to my boss with regard to my WP.
He said he is going to check, but this new company is trading as the old company's name, and it shouldn't be a problem.
It seems things are very complicated.
